"Mikey's Magic Blackboard", my first children's picture book, is a whimsical tale of one little boy's courageous journey to rid his fear of the darkness in his room at night and the goblins and ghosts he's sure inhabit it. Instead of spooky beings, he stumbles upon a portal to amazing places and endless experiences that will end his fear of the dark forever -- a magic blackboard on which he can rough in and revise his wildest dreams, hatch his juiciest schemes. If he changes his mind -- simply erase.
According to Mikey, "Ain't like ya need magic dust or special glasses ta see it. It's like all around ya. And it's real neat 'cause when ur writin' or drawin' sumptin' on it, you can walk through it without bangin' ur head."
"Really don't draw or write nothin'. It's like ur head's some kinda jector that jecks what ur thinkin' on it."
It's written rhyme. Not any particular pentameter. Just rhyme. A. A. Milne I'm not.
